Winter Ales Fayre 2002

Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th November 2002
Dudley Town Hall

This year, the 17th Winter Ales Fayre, moved to the Town Hall. To herald our arrival at the new venue, our logo this year was the Dudley Coat of Arms.

We had over 2,000 drinkers over the 3 days.

There were 64 traditional Real Ales to choose from, both old and new favourites, alongside the higher gravity winter seasonal beers, plus a modest range of cider and wine. From Friday evening our range of draught beer was enhanced by the addition of 40 different Bavarian bottled beers.

On Thursday evening, we again hosted the ‘West Midland Champion Beer of the Year’ competition. Our panel of judges tasted the winners of the 6 beer categories from the West Midland Breweries, chosen earlier this year at other CAMRA Beer Festivals.

As usual, there was traditional food and Live Entertainment at every session.

This year’s ‘official opening’ was performed by The Worshipful the Mayor of Dudley MBC, Councillor Mrs Margaret Wilson.

There is a 'Thankyou trip' for staff who volunteered to help at the festival, to Bristol on Sat 1st February (names to Steve Amos ASAP please)
